Undergraduate Information

human geography advising

Macquarie University's degree structure and the Human Geography programs are very flexible. You can study full-time, part-time and most Human Geography courses are available in flexible mode and can be studied externally.

The university is introducing a new curriculum in 2010. The new curriculum is being introduced in order to broaden the experience and expertise of Macquarie graduates. In a move away from rigid and inflexible degree structures, the number of degrees available will be significantly reduced and “coherent studies” will be replaced with a system of Majors and Minors to make it easier for you to choose what you want to specialise in, as well as making it easier and simpler to manage your enrolment.

Students who enrolled in 2009 or earlier

If you enrolled in 2009 or earlier you have two choices:

  1. Complete the degree in which you are currently enrolled (must be completed by 31 December 2012).
    · Units Transition Table shows details of how these changes will affect specific units in Human Geography 2009 to 2011.
  2. Transition into the new degree program.

Students who are enrolling for the first time from 2010

The New Students 2010 page outlines the basic requirements for a degree program and offers students a wide range of Named Degrees and Majors.  For further information on the available degrees and Majors in Human Geography, as well as People and Planet units, please follow the links.  To learn more about your study options, please also refer to the 2010 Handbook.
