CRSI Postgraduate Research Degrees
Human Geography at Macquarie offers research supervision and excellent research facilities across all Department Research Areas. Higher degrees based on research include PhD, MA (Hons) and MSc (Hons). Many postgraduate research students are holding Australian Postgraduate Awards.
Information about current postgraduate research is available on the Postgraduate Theses List. The department welcomes inquiries from graduates with Honours degrees, or equivalent, from any Australian university or recognised overseas institution. A .pdf file containing a Postgraduate Research Brochure is available for downloading.
Research facilities include
- networked PCs, a postgraduate computing laboratory with, through your supervisor, assistance from the Department's computing support officer
- Geographics office with a graphics designer, scanners, graphics software and slide-making facilities
- Census research laboratory which provides access to census data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics including CDATA 96, SIEFA socio-economic data sets and ABS unit record files
- fully-equipped GIS laboratory with ArcInfo, ArcView, Imagine, a stereodigitiser and plotting facilities

Students can apply to the department for assistance towards their research,for example, fieldwork expenses, and presenting research papers at conferences. In addition, postgraduate research students can apply to the University's Research Office for an award of up to $4,000 once during their candidature from the Postgraduate Research Fund.
